The Langford-Roberts Family — proud East High Mustang alumni — has partnered with Taste of Aviation, a Memphis-based STREAM nonprofit, to invest in the next generation of Mustangs through two annual $1,500 scholarship awards

Valedictorian Scholarship: $1,500

Awarded to the graduating class Valedictorian based on academic excellence.

Essay Contest Scholarship: $1,500*

Awarded to the top essay from a current East High student in grades 9–12.

*Additional Essay Contest Prize is full sponsorship to OBAP’s Memphis Aviation Career Education (ACE) camp on June 5 – 12, 2026.

Essay Submission requirements

Topic:

“What does it mean to be an East High Mustang?”

Strong essays will reflect on one or more of these themes: Pride, Legacy, Community, Character, or Ambition.

Eligability:

• Currently enrolled at Memphis East High School
• Grades 9–12 (one winner across all grades)
• Good academic and disciplinary standing
• Open to all students — college, trade, military, entrepreneurship, or any path

Format: 

• 500–750 words, typed and double-spaced
• Original, unpublished work only

Deadline

All essays due by May 1, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Award Announcement

• Winners notified by May 15, 2026
• Awards distributed through Memphis East High School on May 15, 2026
• Funds may be applied toward any post-secondary goal
